Ondo City — Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the Sunshine State (Ondo) has officially commissioned the newly rehabilitated Stadium/Hospital Road in Ondo City, launching a series of activities to mark his first 100 days in office.
The road, which connects several key health institutions including the General Hospital and the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, had long been a source of concern for residents due to its poor condition. The rehabilitation is expected to ease movement for both emergency services and the general public.
While addressing the crowd at the commissioning, Governor Aiyedatiwa said the project was undertaken to address long-standing infrastructure decay and to support improved access to healthcare.
He stressed the importance of the road as a lifeline for communities, particularly in times of medical emergencies.
“This is more than just a stretch of asphalt. It’s a path to better healthcare, easier mobility, and stronger community ties,” he said.
The Governor expressed appreciation to the engineers, contractors, and workers involved in the project, and thanked residents for their patience during the construction period. He assured the public that his administration remains focused on projects that directly improve living standards, under the “OUR EASE” policy framework.
In a welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Abiola Olawoye described the road as one of several ongoing works aimed at closing infrastructure gaps across the state. He noted that similar projects are in progress in the Ayeyemi, Valentino, and Sabo areas of Ondo City.
Lawmakers and political leaders present praised the Governor for delivering on his promises. Hon. Abiola Makinde, representing Ondo East/Ondo West in the House of Representatives, and Hon. MoyinOlorun Ogunwumiju of the State Assembly both described the project as a welcome development for constituents.
