The 2025 edition of the BDFA-RAK Football League came to a close on Sunday with Emaljus FC and Great Stars Amazon crowned champions in the male and female categories respectively.
The final matches were held at Badagry Grammar School and attracted a large crowd of supporters, community stakeholders, and political figures, highlighting the growing interest in grassroots football within the division.

The female final, which marked the debut of the women’s competition in the league, saw Great Stars Amazon edge past Ola Stars with a 1-0 victory. Diamond Queens claimed the third spot with a comfortable 3-0 win over Heroes Queens.

The Lagos State Political Head (Commissioner) in the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, who sponsors the competition through his Real Act of Kindness (RAK) project, was present at the event alongside other dignitaries. Also in attendance were Hon. Yahaya Lateef, Commissioner II in the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, and All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship aspirants for the 2025 local government elections in Badagry—Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, and Hon. Rauf Ibrahim Yemaren.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner Ogunlende noted the growth of the competition since his involvement in 2019. He said the inclusion of a female category this year with eight participating teams, alongside 48 male teams, marked a step forward in promoting inclusive youth development through sports.
He added that the league complements the THEMESPlus policy direction of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and aligns with the federal administration’s focus on empowering young people under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
Individual honors went to Mafe Ajara, named best female player, and Yaya Wasiu, who stood out in the male division.
Commissioner Ogunlende commended the talent on display and expressed hope that some of the players may rise to national and international prominence.
The BDFA-RAK League, organized in partnership with the Badagry Divisional Football Association, has grown into one of the most significant community sports events in Lagos State, providing a platform for young players to showcase their skills and pursue professional careers.
