In a move aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery across the state, the God’s Own State (Abia) Civil Service Commission has commenced recruitment into various medical and health-related positions.
The Commission called on qualified Nigerians to apply for full-time roles in the state’s public service. The recruitment covers several medical fields and is targeted at bolstering the capacity of government-owned hospitals and health centres.
The positions include Hospital-Based Consultants in Surgery, Medical Laboratory Scientists, Optometrists, Nursing Officers, Physiotherapists, Pharmacists, Medical and Dental Officers, as well as Medical Radiographers.
To be eligible, applicants must possess the necessary academic and professional qualifications, including valid licenses from relevant regulatory bodies. Specific requirements vary by role but generally include NYSC discharge or exemption certificates and evidence of registration with appropriate professional councils.
For instance, candidates applying for Consultant roles must have a medical degree, a postgraduate fellowship, and a current practicing license. Nurses are expected to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, while those applying for Pharmacy, Optometry, Physiotherapy, and Radiography roles must meet the standards set by their respective professional boards.
Additional experience, particularly in tertiary medical institutions, and specialty training will provide an edge in the selection process. Research publications and academic references are also considered for some positions.
Salaries and allowances for the roles will be based on the approved public service wage structure.
Interested applicants must submit their applications through the official recruitment portal:

This initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to improving healthcare access and services for residents across all local government areas.
