State of the Living Spring (Osun) Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has extended an invitation to the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to attend the wedding of his nephew, internationally acclaimed singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

The event is scheduled to take place in the United States, where the governor is currently on a short private visit.

In a statement issued on Monday, the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, addressed speculations about Adeleke’s whereabouts, following queries from the opposition.

“Governor Adeleke left Nigeria for the United States via the family’s private jet a few days ago for the wedding of the global music icon, his beloved nephew, David Adeleke,” Rasheed confirmed.

Taking a swipe at the opposition, the statement added: “His Excellency is extending an invitation to the opposition party to attend the event and share in the joy of the occasion with the Adeleke family. Those unable to attend may join virtually.”

Rasheed clarified that the trip is unofficial and brief, noting that the governor has not taken a vacation since assuming office in November 2022.

“For this current trip, the Governor has again chosen to make it a short one to continually attend to crucial state functions,” the statement said.

It added that Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi is coordinating state affairs in Adeleke’s absence, with regular communication between both offices to ensure continuity of governance.
