The Embassy of Denmark in Abuja has opened applications for the role of Visa and Consular Officer, between August 11and 25 of the same month.
The permanent full-time employment will be based at the Royal Danish Embassy in Abuja, as stated in the call-for-application letter.
The embassy said it seeks to employ “a positive, dynamic, multi-skilled person with flair for customer service, good communication skills and attention to detail,” adding that candidates must also “demonstrate a high level of integrity, self-motivation and initiative.”
The offer is for applicants with a residence and work permit in Nigeria.
The successful candidate will work with the Visa/Consular team in charge of managing visa applications to Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland, as well as consular services for Danish citizens and other qualifying nationals. Other roles will also be to receive and verify applications, process documents electronically, interview applicants in English language and handle communication with the Denmark Visa Application Centre (VFS Global), the Danish Immigration Service, and relevant companies.
And in addition, respond to inquiries about visas and residence or work permits, process Danish passports, capture biometrics, update the passport registry, and provide consular assistance.
Interested applicants must have the required academic qualification, such as higher education, excellent English proficiency, while experience in visa and consular work could be an added advantage. Knowledge of the French language is a plus. Candidates should also possess sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask under pressure.
This role comes with a local contract under the Nigerian labour laws, a three-month probation period, pension benefits, health coverage for the employee and close family, and 25 days of paid annual leave.
