The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has imposed a lifetime ban on Ms. Comfort Emmanson following her unruly behaviour on Ibom Air flight Q9 303 from Uyo to Lagos, on August 10, 2025.

Recall that the passenger’s refusal to comply with safety instructions regarding mobile phone use escalated into a violent assault on crew members, including an attempt to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon.

AON described the drama as one of the most serious cases of disruptive conduct recorded this year, a sustained attack said to have endangered the lives of crew, passengers, and the safety of the aircraft. Ms. Emmanson is now on AON’s ‘No Fly’ list indefinitely, banning her from flying with any member airline both within Nigeria and internationally.

“Such incidents have become one too many with the most recent being the incident involving Nigerian musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1) on ValueJet and the unruly behaviour of Senator Adams Oshiomhole towards the members of staff of Air Peace,” AON stated.

While noting that the incident exposes the vulnerabilities in the security response by the Aviation Security (AVSEC), the AON called on FAAN to immediately review and tighten security procedures at all airports across the country.

AON reiterated its firm stance alongside Ibom Air and other member airlines to uphold zero tolerance for unruly passengers. It emphasized the importance of passengers expressing concerns through proper channels while safeguarding the well-being of staff, travellers, and equipment, and preserving safety standards.
