A former president of the Giant of Africa (Nigeria), Goodluck Jonathan has sent an appeal to African leaders to embrace the virtues of servanthood, sacrifice and passion for service.
This contained his Easter message to the Christian faithful, as posted on his official Facebook account.
Goodluck Jonathan emphasized the need for leaders in the country to prioritize recommitment to pursuing peace and justice for all.
While explaining the significance of the Easter celebration to Christians, he said the day reminds everyone of the sacrificial death of Christ for humanity and His gift of salvation and redemption to all believers.
The statement continued, ” At Easter, we reflect on the power of Christ’s love, the gift of righteousness, and the triumph of hope over despair and every challenge in life.
“The death and resurrection of Christ on the Cross awaken us to the boundless love of God towards us; a reminder of the possibilities faith in God offers to us on earth.
I urge all citizens to be encouraged by the story of the resurrection of Christ and the lessons of hope and victory that are contained in it. Let us be reminded about the purpose of salvation and the essence of mercy and the triumphing power of faith and hope over circumstances.”
In his message, Goodluck Jonathan urged Citizens of the Country to remain positive of the possibilities within the nation and draw strength through hope that we will triumph over challenges faced by individuals and collectively as a nation.
He added that citizens must take the opportunity of the season to renew their faith, strengthen their hope and continue to work towards building a nation of peace, unity and love.
