The governor made the declaration in a statement made available to journalists, stressing that his decision followed weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders.

Adeleke explained that he registered with Accord on 6 November 2025, adding that residents of the state were already familiar with the reasons for the shift. He said he would be seeking a second term on the party’s ticket to “complete ongoing delivery of good governance and democratic dividends, which have been applauded at home and abroad.”

He described Accord as a party whose philosophy aligns with his administration’s focus on welfare.

“We opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens and workers’ welfare. Since I joined, I have been fascinated by the philosophy of this great party. The primary essence of a government is the welfare and well-being of the people,” he said.

Adeleke also received the national leadership of Accord during the unveiling of the party’s structure in the state.

He told the gathering: “You are now part of us, as I am also now part of you. We are united in progress and good intentions for the good people of Osun State and Nigeria at large.”

The governor urged members to maintain cohesion ahead of the next election cycle, saying the party must project inclusive leadership. “Our task is to sustain a united front as we prepare for future elections,” he stated. “We have a duty to ensure an inclusive leadership where the interests of all groups are cared for. Our party, Accord Party, is here to take over Osun governance and sustain the delivery of good governance in our dear state.”
