Nigerians will enjoy a two-day public holiday this week as the Muslim community marks the end of Ramadan, with the Federal Government setting aside Thursday and Friday for the celebration.

The declaration was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Ministry of Interior.

Announcing the holidays on behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated Muslim faithful on completing the fasting period and called for reflection beyond the season.

He said Muslims should “sustain the virtues of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice, which were emphasized during the holy month.”

The minister also appealed to Nigerians across religious lines to use the period to seek divine guidance for the country, urging citizens to pray for “the continued peace, unity, and prosperity of the nation.”

While extending goodwill to the Muslim faithful, he encouraged responsible celebrations and asked citizens to remember those in need by showing compassion and support.

The government, he added, remains focused on promoting harmony and peaceful coexistence across the country.
