The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong warning to Nigerians over a fake recruitment exercise being circulated on social media and other platforms, falsely claiming to offer job opportunities in the Ministry.
In a statement signed by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the federal agency disowned the job advertisement, describing it as “misleading and malicious.” The statement made it clear that the scam is being fraudulently associated with the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, whose signature was forged in the process.
“This is a scam. The Ministry does not conduct recruitment exercises and does not accept payments for any job application or appointment,” Ebienfa said.
The release emphasized that all recruitment into the Nigerian Foreign Service is handled exclusively by the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), and not directly by the Ministry. It cautioned job seekers to avoid engaging with individuals or organizations promoting the false advert, stressing that they risk being defrauded.
The Ministry urged the public to remain alert and report suspicious recruitment advertisements to the relevant authorities.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to transparency and public accountability and encouraged Nigerians to stay aware and cautious in all matters related to job opportunities.
