Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate and recovered 10 vehicles in Kaduna State, the Centre of Learning.

The arrest was carried out by the Force Intelligence Department – Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), which picked up the suspects—Abubakar Musa, 36; Hassan Umar, 30; and Joshua Raphael, 20—on March 16, 2026.

Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja.

Early findings identified Musa as the ring leader, said to be a dismissed corporal of the Nigerian Army who allegedly posed as a serving soldier to avoid detection while carrying out criminal activities with his associates.

Investigators disclosed that the group focused on stealing vehicles and moving them across locations, often tampering with or removing registration details to hide their origin and ownership.

Police said the operation led to the recovery of 10 vehicles of different makes, including Toyota Hilux trucks, Toyota Corolla cars, a Pontiac Vibe GT, a Honda model, a Lexus car, and a Toyota RAV4 SUV. Some of the vehicles were recovered without number plates.

The police added that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the group who are still at large, as well as to recover more exhibits linked to the case.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, praised the operatives for their conduct and restated the resolve of the force to tackle criminal acts and protect lives and property across the country.
