The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dismissed and sanctioned scores of personnel after investigations uncovered misconduct, while launching criminal proceedings linked to illegal arms dealing and infrastructure vandalism.
The disciplinary measures and operational successes were disclosed by the Corps in a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commandant of Corps Babawale Afolabi, speaking on behalf of the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Audi.
The Corps said disciplinary proceedings were concluded against 75 personnel after investigations conducted under the Public Service Rules and the NSCDC Conditions of Service. Those affected include one Assistant Commandant General, two Deputy Commandants, 35 senior officers and 37 junior officers.
The offences established during the investigations include job racketeering, financial misconduct, theft, absence without official leave and acts considered prejudicial to state security. Sanctions imposed range from dismissal and compulsory retirement to recommendations for criminal prosecution.
Among the cases concluded was the February 18, 2026 operational incident at Rafin Gabas in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, where Mining Marshals Location Commander Levi Agada was killed.
The Corps said investigations found that two personnel, Hosea Habila and Jibrin Labaran, engaged suspected illegal miners with firearms without authorisation. Both officers have been dismissed and recommended for criminal prosecution.
The statement also disclosed that four personnel are facing disciplinary proceedings by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police over alleged illegal arms dealing.
Those identified are Superintendent Tesie Victor Nnamdi of the Enugu State Command, Assistant Superintendent II Okwuruinya Uchenna of the Ebonyi State Command, Assistant Superintendent II Obaji Sampson of the Ebonyi State Command and Superintendent Achor Favour of the Nasarawa State Command.
While the first three are facing internal disciplinary measures and legal prosecution over alleged illegal arms dealings, Achor Favour is undergoing administrative disciplinary proceedings following public concern over the alleged mistreatment and negligence of a teenage domestic helper, Mercy Hajara Muhammad.
The Corps also announced the arrest of nine suspects in connection with illegal firearms and ammunition trading across Ebonyi, Enugu, Kogi, Niger states and the Federal Capital Territory. The suspects were identified as Friday Nnanna Ujor, Chika Sampson Nwozaku, Nnanna Ujor Chinasa, Nnanna Fountain, Nnanna Abundant Ifechukwu, alongside three NSCDC officers already undergoing disciplinary action.
In a separate operation aimed at protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, NSCDC operatives arrested six suspected vandals at Sabon Wuse on July 25, 2026, while transporting a trailer load of vandalised railway sleepers concealed in a blue DAF trailer with registration number ZAR 618 XT.
The Corps also arrested Raphael Danjuma and Isaac Zegbe from Toto and Basa Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State over alleged electrical cable vandalism at Gwagwala Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory.
The Commandant General said, “The Corps’ commitment to institutional transparency, public safety, and zero tolerance for compromise.”
The NSCDC stressed that the conduct of the sanctioned personnel does not represent the integrity and dedication of the overwhelming majority of its officers across the country.
It added that all suspects and affected personnel retain their constitutional rights to due process as administrative and legal proceedings continue, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and provide actionable intelligence to support national security.
