The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has commenced a two-week vacation outside Nigeria as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather pace.
The APC disclosed this in a statement signed by Abimbola Tooki, Special Adviser to the National Chairman on Media and Information Strategy, saying the break followed Yilwatda’s first year of intense party engagements, consultations and travels.
The party said the vacation would give its chairman time to rest and reflect on the responsibilities ahead, while also preparing for the next phase of its activities before the 2027 polls.
According to the statement, Yilwatda is expected to use the period to “rest, retool and further sharpen his strategic thinking” ahead of an election described as a defining moment for the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
The development comes after the party concluded its National Convention and conducted primary elections at various levels in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
The APC said Yilwatda would also use the break to put finishing touches to plans for an upcoming National Working Committee retreat, where the party’s leadership is expected to review its activities, identify emerging challenges and agree on strategies for the months ahead.
The statement said the chairman’s absence would not affect the running of the party, as the National Working Committee would continue to discharge its responsibilities in line with the APC constitution and established procedures.
Yilwatda is expected to return to Nigeria after two weeks and resume his engagements with the party.
