The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general election available online following concerns from Nigerians and other stakeholders.
The commission announced the decision in a press statement issued on Monday, October 26, 2026, by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee.
INEC said the online publication would complement the physical display of the register conducted nationwide from October 9 to 15, 2026, in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.
The physical exercise allowed registered voters to inspect their particulars and submit claims and objections as prescribed by law.
The commission said it had taken note of concerns raised by Nigerians and other stakeholders about the need to provide online access to the register in addition to the physical display.
In response, INEC directed the public to access the preliminary register through its online platform at https://display.inecnigeria.org.
The commission explained that the measure was intended to expand public access to the register while strengthening transparency and confidence in the electoral process.
INEC also disclosed that it was still processing claims and objections arising from the exercise ahead of the certification and publication of the final register of voters.
The final register is scheduled for publication on December 15, 2026, according to the statement.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026, in its preparations for the 2027 general election.
