Lagos State Deputy Governor and APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, has outlined his vision for the state, highlighting transportation, housing, security, healthcare and job creation as key priorities.

Hamzat, who is scheduled to present his manifesto on Friday, October 30, said his agenda would focus on sustaining existing progress, addressing neglected areas and expanding opportunities for residents across the state.

In a statement outlining his priorities, he stressed that future development plans must reflect the everyday experiences and expectations of Lagosians.

“The future of Lagos must put people first and our plans must reflect their hopes, concerns and everyday realities,” he said.

On transportation and infrastructure, Hamzat identified the completion and connection of rail lines, improvements in road and water transportation, and greater access to affordable housing as areas requiring attention.

He also listed stronger security and improved healthcare services across Lagos’ 57 local government areas and local council development areas among his priorities, noting that communities should have access to safe roads, dependable public services and economic opportunities.

Education, skills acquisition and employment also featured prominently in his proposed agenda. Hamzat said young people must be equipped with relevant knowledge, technology and practical skills to compete for opportunities, while entrepreneurs and small businesses would require support to grow.

He added that access to opportunities should not be restricted by a person’s background, gender, religion or place of origin.

On environmental concerns, the deputy governor highlighted waste management, flood prevention, drainage improvement and the protection of coastal communities as areas requiring sustained attention.

He also pledged to promote accountable governance, support traders and businesses, and ensure that public resources deliver tangible benefits to residents.

Hamzat said his vision would build on the foundations established by successive administrations, retaining successful policies while addressing shortcomings and responding to the changing needs of the state.

“Progress is not just about how far we have come but how many lives we improve along the way,” he said.

Describing his commitment to Lagos, Hamzat said he envisaged a state that would be safer, more accessible, prosperous and inclusive, with opportunities extending to communities across the state.

He added that residents must remain central to government decisions as Lagos continues its development.

“That is my PROMISE,” he said.
