LAGOS — Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commissioned a new warehouse in Ikorodu designed to store properties involved in legal disputes across Lagos State, especially those still under judicial review or awaiting final decisions.
Named the Deputy Sheriff Warehouse, the facility is expected to provide secure storage for items linked to ongoing court cases, addressing past challenges where such properties were reportedly mishandled or poorly documented.
In his address, Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that the project was conceived to support the proper handling of judicial exhibits and contested assets. He noted that the lack of a dedicated storage centre had contributed to logistical complications in legal proceedings.
“With this new warehouse, these assets will be securely stored, carefully tracked, and managed in a way that maintains their integrity until a court delivers its final judgment,” he said.
The structure is outfitted with surveillance systems, recordkeeping tools, and restricted access controls, with only authorized personnel allowed entry. The facility is expected to ease the burden on court staff, help prevent case delays, and promote a more organized judicial process.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the initiative aligns with the state’s broader agenda to uphold accountability and promote public confidence in legal administration.
“We are putting in place structures that reflect our values—clarity, order, and a firm commitment to the rule of law,” he added.
The warehouse is now operational and will serve as the central point for storing disputed properties across courts in the state.
