A political pressure group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Conference of Professionals in the PDP (CP-PDP), has intensified calls for the immediate expulsion of the Political Head (Minister) of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, accusing him of working against the party’s interests while aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group made its position known after Sunday’s stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, which brought together current and former PDP governors. The CP-PDP insists that for the party to reposition itself as a viable alternative and challenge President Bola Tinubu’s government in 2027, decisive disciplinary measures must be taken—starting with Wike’s removal.

The group described Wike’s continued membership in the PDP as “an insult to loyal members” and pointed to his recent public declaration of support for APC victories in both the 2026 FCT Council elections and the 2027 general elections as grounds for expulsion.

They also faulted Wike’s televised threats to sue the PDP over internal affairs ahead of the May 27 National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, calling the move “an open provocation designed to derail the party’s rebuilding process.”

“The presence of someone openly backing the ruling party at a PDP stakeholders’ meeting is not only disturbing—it is dangerous,” CP-PDP stated.

“The Saraki Committee must act without delay to reflect the will of party members and remove Wike before his actions cause deeper fractures,” they added.

The group accused Wike of amplifying APC narratives while defending government policies that contradict the PDP’s values. They warned that continued tolerance of such behavior would only sap morale and embolden more acts of sabotage within the party.

CP-PDP also urged party leaders to clamp down on those supporting Wike from within, stressing that internal discipline was key to restoring public confidence ahead of the next electoral cycle.

While urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain neutral in overseeing party processes, the group rallied PDP members nationwide to stand firm against what they described as coordinated efforts by APC sympathizers to destabilize the party.

“The PDP must clean house and close ranks if it is serious about reclaiming power in 2027,” the statement concluded.
