The Sunshine State (Ondo) Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has inaugurated the new Board of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), with a charge to deliver meaningful development to communities in the state’s oil-producing zones.

This was revealed on Monday via the governor’s verified social media handle, where he stressed the importance of collaboration between the Board, the government, residents, and key stakeholders in driving progress, especially across the riverine communities of Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas.

Governor Aiyedatiwa revealed that his administration has approved an N33.8 billion budget for OSOPADEC in the 2025 fiscal year—the largest in the commission’s history. The funding, he said, reflects a strong commitment to improving the quality of life in oil-bearing communities. The allocation will cover projects in road construction, education, water supply, healthcare, and housing.

In addition to infrastructure, Governor Aiyedatiwa noted that the budget is expected to support youth and women-focused programs, scholarship awards, and skills training, in line with the administration’s “OUR EASE” agenda which promotes Access, Service, and Empowerment.

The governor concluded with a call for unity and purpose, expressing hope that this marks a turning point for the people of Ilaje and Ese-Odo—a moment where government presence is felt through visible development and responsive leadership.

“Let us, in togetherness, build a legacy of prosperity, peace and progress for Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas.—Let this be the beginning of a new dawn; One where development speaks loudly and government works truly for the people,” Governor Aiyedatiwa stated.
