Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Sheikh Mainasara Liman Habibi, a prominent Islamic scholar and preacher.
In a condolence message, Atiku described Sheikh Habibi as a devoted servant of Allah who dedicated his life to the advancement of Islamic teachings, the promotion of peace, and the fostering of religious tolerance and unity among the faithful.
The late cleric, who played a significant leadership role within the Fityanul Islam group under the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, was praised for his enduring contributions to scholarship, compassion, and service to humanity.
Atiku noted that Nigeria, particularly the Muslim Ummah, has lost a guiding voice of moderation and wisdom at a time when such qualities are greatly needed.
He extended his sympathies to the family of the deceased, the Zazzau Emirate, and the Tijjaniyya community, praying for Allah to forgive Sheikh Habibi’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and bring comfort to those who mourn him.
