The permanent full-time employment will be based at the Royal Danish Embassy in Abuja, as stated in the call-for-application letter.

The embassy said it seeks to employ  “a positive, dynamic, multi-skilled person with flair for customer service, good communication skills and attention to detail,” adding that candidates must also “demonstrate a high level of integrity, self-motivation and initiative.”

The offer is for applicants with a residence and work permit in Nigeria.

The successful candidate will work with the Visa/Consular team in charge of managing visa applications to Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland, as well as consular services for Danish citizens and other qualifying nationals. Other roles will also be to receive and verify applications, process documents electronically, interview applicants in English language and handle communication with the Denmark Visa Application Centre (VFS Global), the Danish Immigration Service, and relevant companies.

And in addition, respond to inquiries about visas and residence or work permits, process Danish passports, capture biometrics, update the passport registry, and provide consular assistance.

Interested applicants must have the required academic qualification, such as higher education, excellent English proficiency, while experience in visa and consular work could be an added advantage. Knowledge of the French language is a plus. Candidates should also possess sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask under pressure.

This role comes with a local contract under the Nigerian labour laws, a three-month probation period, pension benefits, health coverage for the employee and close family, and 25 days of paid annual leave.

Applications must be communicated in English, include a cover letter, CV, proof of education, recommendations, and two to three references and should be delivered to abvamb@um.dk with the subject line: “Application – Visa and Consular Officer – your full name and your nationality.”

The embassy welcomes applications from all qualified persons regardless of race, sex, religion, age, or disability. Meanwhile, selected candidates will be required to present a “No Criminal Record” and undergo security clearance by Danish authorities.

Late submission of applications will not be considered, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
