All public primary and secondary schools in the Centre of Commerce State (Kano) will begin their Eid-el-Kabir break on Wednesday, June 4, following a directive from the state government.
In a statement issued by the State Ministry of Education, boarding students are to vacate their schools between June 4 and June 15, while day students are expected back in classrooms on Monday, June 16.
Parents and guardians have been urged to make arrangements for the prompt collection of their children in boarding schools by Wednesday morning.
The statement, signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, clarified that the existing 2024/2025 academic calendar remains intact and no adjustments have been made beyond the scheduled holiday.
The Political Head (Commissioner) of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, called on parents to ensure their children return as scheduled to avoid disruptions when classes resume.
The break coincides with preparations for Eid-el-Kabir, an important celebration observed by Muslims across the country in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s act of devotion.
Teaching and learning activities are expected to continue as scheduled once schools reopen after the festivities.
