The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has shut down Myra Event Centre in Guzape, Abuja, over repeated cases of noise pollution and related breaches.
Felix Obuah, Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), issued the directive on Thursday, citing persistent disruptions caused by the facility, particularly during nighttime events.
Located at Plot 135, Mustapha Bello Street, the venue is reported to have flouted environmental regulations, prompting authorities to take firm action. The centre is to remain closed until further notice.
Obuah stated that the measure is part of a broader campaign to curb environmental misconduct within the capital. He reiterated the FCTA’s resolve to safeguard public health and maintain peace in residential areas.
He also warned other event centres to operate within the limits of environmental guidelines, noting that any facility found disturbing the peace will face similar sanctions.
Residents were encouraged to report disturbances through official AMMC channels, with Obuah stressing the role of community participation in preserving a healthy and orderly environment.
