The Federal Government has resolved to work with Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM 1, in promoting public awareness on proper airport security procedures, following the recent incident involving him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, made this known on Wednesday, stating that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had reviewed the sanction placed on the artiste, and had reduced his six-month flight ban to one month.
According to him, the move was part of a broader effort to address misconduct within the nation’s airports.
Keyamo explained that, under the new arrangement, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) will coordinate the engagement with KWAM 1, with a focus on sensitising travellers to acceptable conduct at aviation facilities. The NCAA has also decided to withdraw the criminal complaints earlier lodged with the police.
The Minister said the decision follows appeals from various quarters and the musician’s public apology over the August 5 episode.
