The Government of Ghana has announced a cut in tuition for Nursing and Allied Health Training students.
School fee was reduced by 50 percent beginning with the 2025/2026 academic year.
The Ministry of Health, in a statement signed by its Deputy Director and spokesperson, Tony Goodman, disclosed that the move falls under the government’s newly introduced “No-Fee-Stress” scheme aimed at easing the financial burden on tertiary students.
With this policy, the government will absorb half of the approved fees for all first-year nursing and allied health trainees across the country. The ministry warned that no school is allowed to demand charges beyond the amount sanctioned or request payments for items covered under the initiative.
“This reduction underscores President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to supporting parents and students aspiring to advance their studies in the health sector,” the statement read.
The ministry directed principals of health training schools to comply with the new guidelines, stressing that any attempt to impose unauthorized levies would attract sanctions.
It also instructed heads of institutions to begin preparations for the admission of new students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The health ministry reaffirmed its pledge to protect the interests of students and ensure access to training opportunities in the sector.
