The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Gateway State (Ogun) has ratified the suspension of Senator Gbenga Daniel and Hon. Kunle Folarin over alleged anti-party activities.
The decision followed the endorsement of recommendations by the Disciplinary Committees set up by their respective wards in the Sagamu Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by the party’s Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, the Ogun APC disclosed that the State Working Committee (SWC), presided over by its chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, met on August 19 with sixteen members present and resolved to uphold the sanctions.
According to the release, Ward 4 in Sagamu had investigated allegations of misconduct against Senator Daniel, while Ward 6 probed similar complaints against Hon. Folarin. Both committees said they invited the members to appear before them and present their defence, but they failed to honour the summons.
“In view of their deliberate and unexplained absences, the Committees deliberated as scheduled, heard from the available witnesses, considered the available documentary evidence, and deliberated on the allegations,” the statement read.
The committees alleged that the two members attempted to intimidate party members, failed to cooperate with investigators, and used their influence to pressure complainants to withdraw petitions.
Following the findings, both men were suspended indefinitely, pending the outcome of ongoing inquiries. The suspension letters were forwarded to the state leadership, which has now endorsed the decision.
Olufemi noted that the move “demonstrates the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding its constitution.”
