NAIROBI, KENYA — The Government of Kenya is taking concrete steps to commence full operations at the National Police Service Referral Hospital (NPSRH), a facility established to provide specialised healthcare services to officers of the National Police Service (NPS) and their families.
Health Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Aden Duale, made this known during a high-level meeting with the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, and other senior officials of the NPS in Nairobi. The engagement focused on finalising operational strategies for the facility in alignment with Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) goals.
“We are committed to ensuring that the hospital becomes fully operational and well-equipped to serve the police community and their dependents,” Duale said.
The meeting explored proposed management frameworks to fast-track service delivery, improve access to specialised care, and enhance the welfare of police personnel.
As part of the government’s support, Duale confirmed that additional medical equipment will be deployed to the facility through the National Equipment Services Programme — a national initiative aimed at sustaining the availability of modern diagnostic and treatment tools in public hospitals.
Present at the meeting were the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, and the Director General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth. The police delegation included Deputy Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli and Principal Administrative Secretary, Ms. Bernice Sialaal.
The NPS Referral Hospital is expected to serve as a dedicated medical centre for security personnel and their families, providing advanced referral services while reinforcing the government’s commitment to equitable healthcare delivery.
