The Centre of Excellence (Lagos) chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, as a political betrayer.

This followed the former Minister’s comments at a political rally of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Kosofe area of the Centre of Excellence (Lagos), where he was sighted accusing the APC  and its leaders of political incompetence.

Recall that Aregbesola, who had formerly served as a commissioner in Lagos and governor of the State of the Living Spring (Osun) under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress, has officially pitched his tent with the opposition party, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement signed by the APC’s Lagos spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the party described the former minister’s comment as one that reflected “political desperation” and “an attempt to rewrite history for personal gain.”

“It is ironic that a man who benefited from the APC platform for over two decades would now turn around to denounce it. If the APC has failed, Aregbesola must also account for his role in governance during his years in office,” Oladejo stated.

Reacting to the ADC’s proposed “new deal,” the Lagos APC dismissed it as “recycled rhetoric” lacking in structure and credibility. The party argued that Nigerians are no longer swayed by political fanfare without a clear track record or coherent leadership.

Boasting of political achievements, the Lagos APC said it remains a model for good governance.

Oladejo argued that political ambitions must be guided by loyalty and integrity.

The APC party reaffirmed its unity and commitment to delivering democratic dividends to Lagos residents, urging Nigerians to be cautious of politicians who defect when their ambitions are no longer met, yet claim to offer solutions to challenges they contributed to creating.
