Amid a crowd of political leaders, traditional rulers, and residents, Hon. Peter Ajose on Sunday took the oath of office as the sixth Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State.
The ceremony, held at Mowo Junior Secondary School, marked a new chapter in the council’s history as Kumayon vowed to lead with integrity and focus on community-driven development.
In his inaugural speech, Ajose expressed gratitude to the people of Olorunda for entrusting him with the responsibility to serve. He described the occasion as “a fresh chapter” and emphasized his commitment to “serve you to the best of my ability and… work tirelessly for the development and progress of our LCDA.”
He paid tribute to the former leaders of the council, from His Royal Majesty, Oba Abraham Ogabi to his immediate predecessor, Hon. Samson Olatunde, acknowledging their contributions to the growth of Olorunda. “Your collective contributions have shaped the story of our LCDA, and today, we build on the paths you have courageously paved,” Ajose said.
The chairman also extended appreciation to the national and state leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), crediting the party’s structure for making his emergence possible. He singled out the Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, for his leadership.
Acknowledging the importance of unity, Ajose called on all residents to put the tensions of the electoral season behind them. “Let us bear in mind that no one is a loser in this journey; we all won and we are progressing together,” he said, urging political actors, youth leaders, religious groups, and community-based organizations to rally behind his administration.
He stressed that the success of the new leadership would depend on active collaboration across all sectors. “I call upon our traditional leaders, all political leaders, party members, the Community Development Committees (CDCs) and Community Development Associations (CDAs), market men and women, the youth body, professional organizations, NGOs, and everyone, to join hands with us,” he stated.
While acknowledging the challenges ahead, the chairman assured the people of Olorunda that his government would remain “accessible, accountable, and transparent,” promising to uphold high standards in public service.
The event, attended by party leaders, outgoing and incoming councillors, religious figures, and residents, was a reflection of the wide support Ajose enjoys across Olorunda LCDA.
He ended his speech with a unifying call: “Let us rise together, work together, and prosper together.”
