Eight out of the nine members of the House of Representatives from the Land of Virtue (Osun) elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reaffirmed their allegiance to the party and their support for Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Their statement comes in response to claims by Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke, who recently announced his departure from the PDP and suggested that other lawmakers were preparing to join him in defecting from the party.
In a jointly signed statement, the eight lawmakers dismissed Oke’s remarks, describing them as misleading and self-serving. They noted that Oke’s exit did not come as a surprise, citing what they described as his consistent acts of disloyalty, public criticisms, and disregard for party leadership over the years.
They characterized his departure as a betrayal of the platform that sustained his political career for over two decades and advised him to refrain from spreading misinformation to curry favor with his new political allies.
“The decision by our colleague to leave the PDP is entirely his own and does not affect the cohesion or stability of the party in Osun. “We remain committed to the values and leadership of the party” The lawmakers stated.
The group also praised Governor Adeleke’s leadership, crediting his administration with improvements across sectors including education, health, roads, and social programs. They said his approach to governance has strengthened public trust and fostered unity within the party.
The lawmakers reaffirmed Adeleke’s position as the leader of the PDP in the Land of Virtue (Osun) and commended his inclusive style for keeping the party united and focused. They pledged continued support for his administration both at the state and federal levels.
Despite the political shift involving Hon. Oke, the caucus assured constituents that their legislative mandate remains intact and that they will continue to serve with dedication.
They also urged PDP supporters in Osun to remain committed, stating that the party remains the most reliable platform for progress in the state.
As preparations begin for the next round of elections, the caucus expressed readiness to defend the party’s record and ensure continued delivery of good governance under the PDP.
