The State Government of Land of Virtue (Osun) has received the report of the panel of inquiry set up to investigate the chieftaincy dispute surrounding the Olojudo of Ido-Ayegunle in Obokun Local Government Area.
The six-member committee, chaired by Hon. Ropo Oyewole, was constituted earlier this year following a violent outbreak on January 30, 2025, over succession matters linked to the traditional stool. Governor Ademola Adeleke, during a visit to the affected communities, pledged to set up an inquiry to get to the root of the conflict.
With the submission of the report, the government has begun reviewing the panel’s recommendations. A White Paper outlining the government’s position is expected to be released shortly.
In a statement issued in Osogbo, the state capital, the government assured all parties involved that justice would be served and the interests of all concerned groups would be reflected in its decisions.
While urging residents of Esa-Oke and Ido-Ayegunle to remain calm and continue to uphold peace, the government issued a stern warning to individuals or groups attempting to incite unrest. Any person found fueling tension, the statement noted, will face legal consequences.
Governor Adeleke expressed appreciation to members of the affected communities for cooperating with the inquiry panel and maintaining decorum throughout the process. He also commended the panel for what he described as a diligent and thorough job.
The administration reiterated its commitment to maintaining harmony across the state, especially in areas experiencing traditional leadership disputes.
