Patience Pays Off at Goodison Park

On what was their final appearance at Goodison Park, City faced a well-organized Everton side that proved difficult to break down. The breakthrough came late, with 19-year-old Nico O’Reilly finding the net in the 84th minute. Mateo Kovacic added a second deep into injury time, sealing all three points for the visitors.

Champions League Spot Within Reach

The result pushes City back up to fourth in the league standings, with five fixtures remaining. A spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League is now firmly within their control.Guardiola acknowledged the significance of the win, especially given the timing.

“We had to keep our composure. With only a handful of games left, coming here and getting a result means a lot—especially knowing the challenge Everton brings,” he stated.

He also referenced other teams’ struggles at Goodison, including title-chasers Arsenal, highlighting how valuable the win could be.

Overcoming a Challenging Season

Reflecting on the journey so far, Guardiola praised his squad’s resilience.

“These players have achieved so much over the years. This season has tested us, especially with the injuries we’ve had to manage. It’s only now that we’re finding some rhythm again.
