The Federal Government will on Thursday, July 17, convene a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away recently.
This forms part of a series of national mourning activities approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The information was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Information and National Orientation.
According to the statement, the special FEC session is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. It will follow the Third Day prayer for the late former President, to be held at his Daura residence in Katsina State. Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead a government delegation to the prayer session, alongside several cabinet ministers.
The Abuja meeting will feature key government officials, including members of the National Assembly, the judiciary, and representatives of the Buhari family.
In continuation of the official mourning programme, a special prayer will take place at the National Mosque in Abuja on Friday, July 18. A memorial church service is also planned for Sunday, July 20.
