Lagos — Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on leaders, citizens, and legal bodies across West Africa to renew their commitment to the rule of law as a cornerstone for peace, growth, and unity in the region.
Speaking at the Sensitisation Outreach and External Court Sessions of the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice held in the Centre of Excellence (Lagos), the governor emphasized that justice must be a shared pursuit if the sub-region is to thrive and ensure protection for all.
He noted that the Centre of Excellence (Lagos) has historically played a pivotal role as a connecting point for cultures, commerce, and dialogue within West Africa. The city’s hosting of the event, he said, reflects its continued dedication to regional progress and to making justice more reachable for the people.
“Lagos has always been more than just a city, we are a bridge connecting cultures, economies, and ideas across the sub-region. This gathering reinforces our commitment to regional integration and ensuring that justice is not just an abstract ideal but something tangible, accessible, and real for our people” the governor stated.
Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the significance of the ECOWAS Court’s presence in the state, describing it as a meaningful step in strengthening public understanding of the Court’s mandate and reinforcing cooperation between local and regional legal frameworks.
He concluded by stressing that the path to a more unified and equitable West Africa lies in shared values, mutual respect, and collective resolve.
