President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where key decisions were made to bolster Nigeria’s economic direction and governance structure.
Deliberations centered on strategies to stimulate economic growth, with emphasis placed on promoting domestic capacity and revisiting critical sectors of the economy. Council members reviewed and approved several proposals aimed at addressing structural challenges facing the country.
A major highlight of the session was the formal inauguration of Dr. Saviour Enyiekere as Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission. He was sworn in alongside 12 commissioners drawn from the six geopolitical zones.
Also sworn in were two newly appointed Permanent Secretaries—Mr. Rafiu Olarinre Adeladan from the Pace Setter State (Oyo) and Dr. Muktar Mohammed from The New World (Jigawa), marking a move to reinforce leadership within the federal civil service.
The Council paused briefly to honor the memory of Dubem Onyia, a former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who died in March. A minute of silence was observed in tribute to his service to the nation.
