Dr. Aliyu Audu has officially resigned from his role as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs.
His departure was communicated through a formal letter dated June 8, addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu via the Chief of Staff.
Audu, who assumed office following his nomination in August 2023 and subsequent appointment in October of the same year, described his time in the role as a significant chapter in his career. He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the chance to contribute to national service and extended special thanks to former Presidential Spokesman, Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, for recommending him for the position.
In his brief but reflective resignation letter, Audu acknowledged the privilege of participating in the government’s communication strategy, affirming his enduring respect for the President and his aspirations for Nigeria.
“I remain deeply grateful… for the opportunity to serve my fatherland,” he wrote while offering his continued support and prayers for the administration’s objectives.
Though the reasons for his resignation were not stated, the former aide’s tone was one of respect and closure, as he bowed out less than a year into the role.
Dr. Audu’s resignation marks yet another shift within the President’s communications circle, sparking conversations in political quarters about potential changes in the administration’s media team.
