The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified the circumstances surrounding the detention of Martins Vincent Otse, who is currently under investigation following a number of petitions alleging serious financial misconduct.
Despite multiple formal invitations extended to him via known addresses and communication channels, Otse reportedly failed to honour the summons. The allegations against him are said to involve significant breaches of financial conduct, prompting the agency to initiate an investigation in line with its statutory responsibility.
While the EFCC acknowledged Otse’s public criticism of its activities, it emphasized that such actions played no role in his detention. According to the agency, any concerns related to those comments will be addressed separately by the appropriate authorities.
The anti-graft body confirmed that a court-sanctioned remand order was obtained to hold Otse in custody during the investigation.
” He has since been granted administrative bail, pending the fulfilment of all stipulated conditions” the statement read
In response to public interest in the matter, the EFCC urged Nigerians to allow it to carry out its work without unwarranted speculation. The Commission assured that once the investigative process is complete, legal proceedings will commence where necessary.
