A group of aggrieved workers stormed the Federal Ministry of Finance Tuesday, shutting down access to the premises in protest over unpaid entitlements.
This development was reported by Channels Television, which monitored the scene in Abuja where the demonstrators blocked both entry and exit points of the ministry’s headquarters.
Clad in matching red T-shirts, the protesters who are believed to be members of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) refused to allow vehicular movement in or out of the compound. While they declined to speak with journalists, inscriptions on their placards indicated grievances related to unpaid arrears and pending welfare benefits.
Security personnel were seen stationed near the ministry’s entrance, monitoring the situation as the protest continued. Activities within the ministry were visibly disrupted, with staff and visitors stranded outside the locked gates.
As of press time, officials at the ministry were yet to issue any public response.
