The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to host a public engagement on Wednesday, June 25, aimed at deepening public understanding of the whistleblower reward system.
The forum, titled EFCC Connect, marks its 152nd edition and will focus on the theme: “Blow Whistle and Get Paid.” The event will start at 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed live via the Commission’s official Facebook page and X handle (@OfficialEFCC).
Two senior officials of the anti-graft agency are billed to speak at the event: Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE II) Ala Shehu, Head of Investigation, Lagos Zonal Directorate 1; and ACE II David Nkpe, Head of the Special Duties Committee 3.
The session will explore the procedures, eligibility, and benefits attached to whistleblowing in Nigeria, particularly the monetary compensation available to individuals who provide actionable intelligence that leads to the recovery of stolen assets or prosecution of offenders.
EFCC’s whistleblower policy, which has led to significant breakthroughs in the fight against corruption, encourages ordinary citizens to speak up against financial misconduct. This public forum provides a platform for questions, clarifications, and firsthand engagement with officials directly involved in the implementation of the reward system.
The Commission has reiterated its commitment to transparency and public inclusion in its operations, describing the whistleblowing mechanism as an important tool in the ongoing fight against economic and financial crimes.
