Chief Dele Momodu, a media entrepreneur and one-time presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has officially parted ways with the opposition party, declaring his decision to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a letter dated July 17, 2025, and addressed to the chairman of PDP Ward 4 in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Momodu cited the hijack of the party by “anti-democratic forces” as his primary reason for the resignation.

“My reason is simple and straightforward,” he wrote. “Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight. It is therefore honorable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”

Momodu, who contested the PDP’s presidential ticket in the 2023 general election, expressed gratitude to his ward leadership for their support over the years, describing their backing as consistent and deeply appreciated.

His departure marks another significant defection from the PDP, a party struggling to hold its ranks amid internal wranglings and growing dissatisfaction among its members.

Momodu’s next political steps will be closely watched as the ADC continues to position itself as an emerging force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
