Collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) has commenced at Araromi-Ilogbo Secondary School, Oko-Afo, Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State, but cards for some categories of applicants remain unavailable.
Findings by National Parrot during a visit to the collection centre on Friday showed that PVCs were available for new registrants who completed the online Continuous Voter Registration exercise in 2025, while cards for applicants who registered in 2026 had yet to be printed.
The collection exercise follows the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that nationwide distribution of newly issued PVCs would begin on October 9, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Further findings revealed that PVCs for applicants seeking replacements for lost or damaged cards, corrections to names or dates of birth, and transfers to new polling locations were also unavailable at the centre as of the time of filing this report.
A reliable source familiar with the process said applicants in these categories might have to download and print their PVCs online, although no official confirmation of this arrangement was available at the time of filing.
INEC had earlier announced the introduction of printable PVC technology, which is expected to reduce delays in obtaining cards and make replacement easier for eligible voters.
The commission’s Continuous Voter Registration exercise was conducted in three phases between August 2025 and July 2026, with more than 10.7 million new registrants recorded nationwide.
The PVC collection exercise is part of preparations for the 2027 general elections and coincides with the display of the preliminary register of voters, scheduled to run from October 9 to 15, 2026.
Registered voters are expected to use the period to verify their personal information and raise claims or objections where necessary.
