Between June and July 2025, the Nigeria Police Force recorded the arrest of 5,488 criminal suspects for various offences, including kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, homicide, and murder.
The Force also recovered 316 assorted firearms and 2,884 rounds of ammunition, alongside 216 stolen or unregistered vehicles. Within the same period, 170 kidnapped victims were rescued, some from extremely difficult terrains.
These figures were presented by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, during a strategic conference with senior police officers, held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Building, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The meeting brought together officers from the rank of Commissioner of Police and above to deliberate on evolving security challenges, the complexity of threats, and ways to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to protect citizens.
Commending the officers for their operational efficiency, the IGP acknowledged their sacrifices towards public safety. He noted that the leadership roles they occupy are not ceremonial but defined by critical decisions that preserve national security.
He urged the Commands and Formations to consistently showcase their operational results to inform Nigerians of the Police’s unrelenting efforts in delivering on its mandate of ensuring public safety.
Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of personnel, the IGP stressed that improved welfare packages for both serving and retired officers remain central to his administration’s reform agenda.
At the close of the meeting, senior officers expressed renewed vigor to implement the policies of the IGP geared towards crime prevention, and assured Nigerians of continued engagement at the grassroots level to ensure a safe and secured Nigeria.
