The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has appealed to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ikeja Chapter, to establish a monthly prayer session dedicated to national leadership and unity.

The call was made during a visit by CAN leaders to the council secretariat at Ikeja House, according to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Mr. Oni Olalekan.

Dauda urged the Christian body to direct its prayers towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Ikeja-born federal lawmaker, Rt. Hon (Dr.) James Abiodun Faleke, describing spiritual support as key to sustaining progress at all levels of government.

He recalled the massive interdenominational rally organised by Faleke in 2022 at the LTV 8 Blueroof in Ikeja, which he said preceded Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.

“That prayer laid the foundation for divine intervention and national victory. As we look forward to 2027, we must not relent in seeking God’s face,” Dauda said.

The council boss noted that continuous intercession is necessary not only for leaders but also for the people of Ikeja, Lagos State, and Nigeria as a whole. He stressed that prayers should focus on divine guidance, protection, peace, and stability across the country.

“This monthly initiative,” he said, “is not just symbolic; it is strategic. We must sustain a spiritual atmosphere of unity and progress to continue reaping the fruits of good governance.”

The Chairman pledged full backing from the local government for the prayer project and affirmed the council’s willingness to partner with CAN in fostering communal harmony through faith-based engagement.

In attendance at the meeting were the Vice Chairman of Ikeja, Hon. Abisola Omisore (OMITUNTUN), and the Council Manager, Mrs. Juliana Odubeko.
