President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is on his way back to Abuja after concluding a state visit to Brazil.
The presidential aircraft departed Brasília International Airport Air Force Base at 12:57 p.m. (local time).
Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, joined senior Brazilian diplomats, including Amb. Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte and Amb. Carlos José Areias Moreno Garcete, at the airport to see the President off. A guard of honour commanded by Col. Cel Nicolas formed part of the departure ceremony.
Tinubu had arrived in Brasília on Monday, August 25, where he was accorded full military honours at the Palácio do Planalto. During the visit, he met with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and oversaw the signing of five agreements in agriculture, aviation, science and technology, and foreign affairs.
The President is expected in Abuja soon to resume official duties.
