President Bola Tinubu has pledged to contribute all his salaries since assuming office to a new welfare fund for Nigeria’s Armed Forces, highlighting his personal commitment to the welfare of military personnel and their families.
The announcement was made in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on Sunday.
The fund will provide targeted support to personnel injured in the line of duty, as well as widows, widowers, and children of those who lost their lives serving the nation. President Tinubu has directed the Accountant-General of the Federation to create a special account for the initiative.
The President called on State Governors, members of the National Assembly, the private sector, friends, and well-wishers to support the programme, noting that full details of the fund will be shared in due course.
He emphasised that the initiative stems from a national duty to care for those who face danger in service.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that service to the nation is met with dignity, care, and sustained support for military personnel and their families.
