The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced plans to recruit no fewer than 22,000 examination supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal, scheduled to commence on June 15, while warning Nigerians against fraudulent online recruitment portals.
The warning was issued through the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations of the Council, Azeez Sani, who alerted the public to the activities of individuals operating fake websites purportedly recruiting examination supervisors on behalf of NECO.
The Council said the fraudulent portals were requesting applicants to upload details of their academic qualifications and make payments before processing their applications.
NECO stressed that it does not demand any payment from teachers seeking appointment as examination supervisors for the forthcoming SSCE Internal examination.
The examination body explained that it has migrated from the manual recruitment process for supervisors and assistant supervisors to a fully electronic system following recommendations by the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria.
It stated that the new platform is open to qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are at least 30 years old and interested in serving as supervisors during the examination.
The Council also noted that the recruitment process on its website is completely automated, stressing that no intermediary or third party is required at any stage of the exercise.
According to NECO, the digital recruitment system is designed to curb fraudulent practices in the selection of supervisors, reduce examination malpractice and ensure fairness and credibility in the process.
“The National Examinations Council (NECO) has alerted members of the public of the existence of fake online portals for the recruitment of Examination Supervisors,” the statement read.
It added that “No fewer than 22,000 supervisors will be recruited by the Council to ensure a smooth conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal which is scheduled to commence on 15th June, 2026.”
