After 17 years of silence, Okin Biscuits has restarted one of its rehabilitated production lines in Offa, marking a major step towards returning the brand to the market.
Okin Biscuits Limited disclosed that biscuits rolled off the rehabilitated line on August 25, 2026, during a technical trial run aimed at determining whether the production equipment could be brought back into operation.
The company said the line had to be rebuilt after cables, frequency drives, contactors, motors and other electronic components were stolen during the years the factory remained inactive.
“This was a technical TRIAL RUN – NOT a product trial,” the company said, explaining that the exercise was focused on testing whether the line, which had remained silent for 17 years, could function again.
At this stage, the company said, the exercise was not focused on colour, appearance or achieving the final Okin recipe, but on establishing that the rehabilitated equipment could operate.
The trial also coincided with another major development as IBEDC officially connected the factory to a 33kV Band A electricity grid.
Okin Biscuits said more testing, calibration and rehabilitation would be required before production reaches the standard expected for commercial distribution.
The company stressed that its focus remained on restoring the familiar Okin taste and quality before the biscuits return to the market.
“The machines are turning. The ovens are firing. The biscuits are beginning to roll out again,” it said.
Okin Biscuits also clarified that the trial run did not signal the commencement of commercial production, saying technical trials would continue as work progresses on the product.
The company said the official launch date and product availability would be announced through its official channels, while thanking consumers for their patience, love and support.
“One step at a time. Okin is coming back,” the company said.
