IBADAN — Renewed Hope Crusader Olalekan Oni took President Bola Tinubu’s reforms, achievements and 2027 prospects to over 120,000 listeners across five Ibadan radio stations.
The three-day media engagement, held from Thursday, September 3, to Saturday, September 5, 2026, featured appearances on Honor 103.1FM, Omoluabi 87.7FM, YES 101.7FM, JDN Radio 101.5FM and Crest 91.1FM, where Oni discussed the economy, government programmes, ongoing reforms, misinformation and preparations for the 2027 General Elections.
Oni acknowledged the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians while making a case for the Tinubu administration’s policies, drawing on statistics, beneficiary figures and examples of Federal Government interventions to explain the rationale behind some of the decisions.
The broadcasts also became a platform for listeners and online participants to challenge the arguments presented, with reactions reflecting the contrasting views surrounding the administration’s economic direction.
Some callers expressed concern over the hardship associated with the reforms, while others backed the President’s approach, describing some of the decisions as difficult but necessary.
A caller on YES FM declared support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing the administration’s settlement of outstanding pension obligations among the reasons for his position.
The discussions also featured testimonies from two Facebook participants who said they had benefited from the Federal Government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training initiative.
Oni used the broadcasts to challenge what he described as misinformation, half-truths and misleading claims about the administration, while drawing attention to government programmes he said had received limited public awareness.
With more than 120,000 people estimated to have listened to or watched the five broadcasts, the campaign extended beyond Oyo State, attracting participation from parts of Lagos and Osun States through radio and Facebook Live.
The engagements placed radio at the centre of political communication ahead of the 2027 elections, giving citizens an opportunity to question government policies while hearing arguments in support of the administration.
On Tinubu’s re-election prospects, Oni maintained that the President remained well positioned heading into 2027, citing the administration’s policy direction, reforms and emerging results.
He also argued that political communication in the build-up to the election should extend beyond rallies, urging sustained engagement through radio, television, social media, community outreach and grassroots mobilisation.
Oni thanked the management and presenters of the five radio stations for providing platforms for the discussions, while acknowledging his leader, Alhaji Tunde Oyetola, for his “massive support and encouragement” throughout the exercise.
He said the Ibadan engagement formed part of a wider effort to take the Renewed Hope message to Nigerians as the country approaches the 2027 campaign season.
“The conversation continues across the nation as we move properly into the campaign season. The Renewed Hope message must continue to reach the people, and Nigerians must be given the opportunity to hear the facts, ask questions and make informed choices.”
Oni ended the engagement with the Yoruba expression, “Ajọṣe wa kọnibaje,” reaffirming his commitment to collective political engagement and mobilisation.
