In total, 432 aspirants were cleared by the party’s electoral committee to contest across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

The screening exercise, held between April 29 and May 3 at the party’s secretariat in Ogba, was led by Babatunde Ogala as chairman and Babarinde Nurudeen as secretary. The committee assessed a total of 470 aspirants.

A total of 38 individuals were disqualified or withdrew voluntarily. Among them was Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, who stepped down following internal party consultations.

The disqualifications were based on issues ranging from lack of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and invalid party membership to questionable academic records.

The APC has opted for an indirect primary system, allowing party executives from across all councils to cast votes. Aspirants who were disqualified can submit appeals between May 4 and 5, while petitions against the primary outcomes can be lodged between May 12 and 13.
