Alajobi Foundation Marks One Year, Collaborates with Ajose on Education Support

The Alajobi Community Development Foundation, in collaboration with the Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, and the Kumayon Fans Club (NGO), distributed educational materials to pupils across Olorunda as part of activities marking the foundation’s first anniversary.

The event, held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, in Olorunda, Lagos State, brought together community leaders, teachers, parents, and pupils in a ceremony designed to encourage learning and give young people a sense of belonging.

Speaking at the gathering, Hon. Ajose Kumayon expressed appreciation to the organisers, describing the initiative as a significant step towards supporting the future of children in the area. “Education as well known, is the greatest investment we can give to our Children. And I am proud to say, a non-governmental organization of this calibre is answering this noble call,” he said. 

He further noted that the programme was not just about sharing school bags and books, but about “giving hope, building confidence and reminding every child here that they are the Future of Olorunda LCDA, Badagry, Lagos State and Nigeria at large.”

In his address, the Director of the foundation, Hon. Alajobi Ahmed, outlined other community support programmes already carried out by the organisation, including women empowerment schemes, zero-interest loans, and free GCE and JAMB forms. 

He explained that the initiative was driven by the belief that investing in young people would prevent them from turning against society in the future. 

“What we’re offering them today, if God gives them the capability, they can do even more to the young ones coming after them,” he said, urging well-meaning individuals to contribute to the growth of children in their own capacity.

Also speaking, the President of the Kumayon Fans Club, Hon. Kudoro Abdulhakeem, emphasised the role of non-governmental organisations in supporting government at the grassroots. “Our mission is simple: to complement the efforts of government at the grassroots level. We recognize that government alone cannot do everything, and it is the duty of responsible citizens and organizations to join hands in building the society we all desire,” he stated.

He highlighted the group’s focus areas as education, community development, environment and sanitation, health, and accountability in local revenue generation. 

Abdulhakeem reaffirmed the organisation’s readiness to work with the government and other stakeholders to improve the well-being of residents. He also expressed gratitude to the foundation’s financial partners and acknowledged the contributions of volunteers who supported the initiative.

The anniversary event was capped with the distribution of school bags and other materials to pupils in attendance, with speakers urging children to make good use of the opportunity provided.
