The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged party members in Taraba State to embrace reconciliation, saying unity remains the party’s strongest asset ahead of future elections.
Yilwatda made the appeal in a statement after inaugurating the APC State Secretariat in Jalingo, Taraba State, where he also reflected on his visit, his birthday medical outreach and the need to strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu.
The APC chairman said the newly inaugurated secretariat should become a meeting point for healing divisions within the party rather than serving only as an administrative office.
“This beautiful Secretariat must be more than an office; it must be a temple of reconciliation. I want to see aggrieved members sitting around the table, resolving differences, rebuilding trust and bringing more people into our great party. Our strength is our unity, and Taraba has the capacity to deliver the numbers” he stated.
He said he commissioned the new party office alongside the Minister of Regional Development and members of the National Working Committee, describing the reception he received in Taraba as emotional.
“The warm reception from the airport was deeply emotional, especially seeing widows and children dancing to welcome me. Their joy was touching, but their stories were heartbreaking,” the Chairman added.
Yilwatda said those encounters influenced his decision to mark his birthday by sponsoring a medical outreach in the state.
“That is why, on my birthday, I chose to support a medical outreach in Taraba. Beyond the vote and beyond the party, the lives of our people matter to us.”
The APC chairman also credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with expanding the Federal Government’s presence in Taraba through infrastructure and development projects, saying the progress should inspire greater public support.
According to him, “President Bola Tinubu has brought renewed federal attention to Taraba, with critical infrastructure and development projects changing the story of communities that once felt forgotten. We must translate this development into greater hope for our people and a stronger mandate for Mr. President. This is the APC we are building, a party of humanity, reconciliation, development and hope.”
